I've updated that image. It was not possible.
This one should work, unfortunately small fish and breeds of dog will not be happy.
Sacrifices needed to be made. It's how it goes.
I'm off to create more time consuming silly pictures.

To find meaning in life you need to find what you are passionate about. you need to find a personal reason for your own existence, a reason that will get you out of bed in the morning. It's not a matter of searching for some ethereal, profound, and mysterious meaning, but simply of choosing what to dedicate your life to, for the purpose of life is to live a life of purpose. In other words, the meaning of life is to live a meaningful life. We create ourselves with the power of thought, and we create our meaning with the power of choice.
Or if you want a more general answer to "What is the meaning of life?", the answer is obviously 42

Memory is fuzzy and I'm confused but I was told that 2% of the global warming problem comes from the UK. Primary sources are America and China...
My point here is that say if I wanted to make a difference and I was to run the whole of the UK. I wouldn't really make a 'difference'. It would be unreasonable for me to expect to be able to achieve anything more than to run the whole of the UK. In your situation the best you can hope for is to run your country which won't make much of a difference; in addition, you simply don't have that kind of pushy driven personality such people have. If you did, you wouldn't be making such a thread on a guild wars forum with people that generally know nothing about politics =P.

That's rubbish. If everyone stopped their jobs, it would make a huge difference. Even a dust bin man. Or the person that delivers milk. Sure, individually they don't achieve a lot, but as a whole they do. It's no different for you individually though. Unless you become a part of the government (which won't happen).

I am considering a job in law enforcement.
Is a career in law enforcement safe? How often do police officers get shot at? How often do police officers get murdered?

A lot of jobs are dangerous. Especially being something like a farmer. If you're afraid of getting your nail broken as said before, you simply don't have the driven attitude successful people have that make a difference.
Just don't become a do gooder. They actually do no good because they narrow the situation down too much and cause more harm than they realise. .

Lots of different viewpoints recognized in here, which is to be expected given the breadth of the question...

What you're suffering from here is called the existential void. Some of the suggestions here offer ways for you to fill that void (i.e. dedicating yourself to help others or having a significant other).
Suffering from the existential void makes it easy to fall into a thought process of nihilism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilism). However, if you can reject the slave morality and accept a master morality, then you can overcome the nihilist drift and move toward creating your own purpose.

Go to the nearest convenient store and get a life. It's located in the get real section next to the clues.
